Living In Colorado


A curious visitor at the University of Colorado.  The 90kg male was seen ambling around a residence hall area before he attempted to scale a tree.



The wildlife officers tranquilised the bear while he was up in the branches and, after a short wait, the bear safely landed on his back.



The bear had spent the better part of the day on campus, students said, and climbed about 4.5m into a tree near university dormitories.

Six Colorado restaurant chains are on FastCasual.com’s 2012 list of the nation’s “Movers and Shakers,” with Denver-basedSmashburger at No. 1 and Chipotle at No. 6.



The trade website’s ranking touts the top brands, people, trends and technologies in the fast-casual restaurant segment. Fifty restaurant chains nationwide are ranked as Movers and Shakers.


Craft brewing biz pours $446M into Colorado economy


Colorado’s craft brewing industry produces an annual economic impact of $446 million, according to a study released Tuesday that is the first that attempts to quantify what the growing industry sector means to the state.


Red Robin's Burger Works comes to downtown


 



Folks downtown looking to get their “yummm” on faster will soon have a Red Robin’s Burger Works to satisfy that need for speed.



The unique faster-food option from the Red Robin’s Gourmet Burger chain is slated to open Memorial Day weekend on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver, said Peter MacKellar, associate manager of communications for Red Robin International Inc.


Cabela's announces plans for two Denver-area stores

Colorado Adds Jobs


 



Colorado added 2,600 payroll jobs in March, while the state's unemployment rate remained at 7.8 percent, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment reported Friday.



It's the third straight month that Colorado's jobless rate has been at 7.8 percent. The national unemployment rate for March was 8.2 percent.

Wal-Mart to introduce smaller store concept in Denver


Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Tuesday it plans to open five of its Walmart Neighborhood Market stores in metro Denver this summer, introducing the smaller-format stores to the area, and is hiring about 400 full- and part-time workers for the stores.

Denver's Luxury Home Market Sees Strong March


The number of luxury homes sold in the metro Denver market in March increased dramatically from both the prior month and March 2011, according to a report released Monday.

Geithner has said in recent public appearances that an agency recommendation for winding down the two taxpayer-owned mortgage companies could be released in coming weeks. Wyoming Get's New Microsoft Center


 



Microsoft Corp. will build a $112 million data center in Wyoming, which the company expects to be operational by spring 2013,Wyoming's governor announced Monday.

Best Buy Changing It's Model


 



The company, which has 1,450 stores nationwide and 2,900 worldwide, also will cut 400 jobs in corporate and support areas.



Best Buy did not identify which, if any, of its Colorado stores will close. The discount retailer lists 22 full-size Colorado stores -- 16 of them in metro Denver-Boulder -- and five mobile specialty stores on its website
